DEALING WITH ADDICTION(S)

Welcome all to my new blog and today we will be talking about a serious topic that is addiction. If we are talking about addiction it can be addiction of any stuffs like smoking cigarette , alcohol consumption, mobile overuse , social media addict  and many more things.

Addiction is a psychological and physical inability to stop consuming a chemical, drug, activity, or substance, even though it is causing psychological and physical harm.

Everyone who is addicted to any of the above things knows it very well that these stuufs dont add any value to their life and instead are consuming their quality time in which they can do great things which adds some value to their life but instead of knowing all this they are not doing a single thing which will help them in coming out of such addictions.

There are basically two types of addiction known

  • Chemical addiction. This refers to addiction that involves the use of substances.
  • Behavioral addiction. This refers to addiction that involves compulsive behaviors. These are persistent, repeated behaviors that you carry out even if they don’t offer any real benefit.

Before getting into the different types of addiction, it’s helpful to understand a few general elements of addiction.

The reward system

Addiction interferes with normal brain function, particularly in the reward system.
When you do something you find enjoyable, whether that’s hanging out with your best friend, drinking a bottle of wine, or using cocaine, this reward system releases the neurotransmitter dopamine along with other chemicals.
Contrary to popular belief, dopamine doesn’t appear to actually cause feelings of pleasure or euphoria. Instead, it seems to reinforce your brain’s association between certain things and feelings of pleasure, driving you to seek those things out again in the future.

Cravings and tolerance

The desire to experience this euphoria again can trigger cravings for the substance or behavior, especially when you encounter the same cues (like a party where people are drinking, for example). These cravings often serve as the first sign of addiction.
As you continue using a substance or engaging in a behavior, your brain continues to produce larger amounts of dopamine. Eventually, it recognizes that there’s plenty of dopamine in your brain already and starts producing less in response to normal triggers.
There’s one problem, though: Your brain’s reward system still needs the same amount of dopamine to function as it should.
Before long, you need to use more of the substance to make up for what your brain isn’t releasing. This effect is called tolerance.

Disinterest in other activities

As addiction develops, it’s common to lose interest in hobbies and other things you once enjoyed.
This happens because your brain no longer produces much dopamine in response to natural triggers, like having sex or making art.
Even when you want to stop using a substance or engaging in a behavior, you might feel like you still need them in order to feel good about anything.

Loss of control

Addiction usually involves an inability to control substance use or specific behaviors. This can result in job loss, health issues, and relationship concerns, among other things.
In response, you might decide to quit the substance or behavior, only to find that you keep falling short, despite your best efforts.

Now we will be talking about how to control these addictions
1. INDULGE YOURSELF IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.
If you believe that you are under control of some stuffs like social media, phones, alcohol ,cigarette , porn etc.  and you know it very clearly that this stuffs dont add any value instead taking most of your time then this is the corect time of knowing yourself. Go out and buy a gym membership or you can learn to play any sport you like.
2. READ SOME GOOD SELF HELP BOOKS.
Reading a book not only improve your vocabulary but also generate some great ideas with which you can make your life awesome. It is one of my hobbies whenever I get some quality time I do invest my time in writing blogs or reading a self help books. It will calm your mind to a great extent.

3. TRAIN YOUR BRAIN
You all know it very well that watching porn and surfing on social media had made a deep impact on our brain and as the time passes our thinking capability reduces to a great level. The only thing we fantacise is actor and actressess. And in long run you will become antisocial so keep your mind calm do some Pranayam(breathing exercise) or you can simply do meditation(start with 5 minutes a day). Once your mind become calm you can handle any situation with a smile on your face.
4. BECOME SOCIAL
You may have a tons of  Friends on Facebook and Instagram but when the time comes not a single of those will be availaible(true in my case). If you want to share something very important but you dont have any friends to share is very painful. So get out of your home and make some good and trustworthy friends to whom you can discuss ideas . These friends makes you social and you will having not a single minute to spear on social media.
When you are motivated from inside then it will become very easy to get away from distraction(s). You will always be full of enthusiasm to do something interesting and valuable .
6. FOLLOW 21/90 RULE
When it comes to make a new habit follow 21/90 rule .It almost take 21 days for developing a new habbit and it takes 90 days to making a lifestyle. If you keep doing a new thing for 21 days then it will become a habbit and if you are doing it for 90 continuously then it will become a part of your life. So develop some good habit and try 21/90 rule. And dont make a bad habit using this rule.

Staying Motivated Throughout the Day

1. Build a business around your passion. When you do something you truly love it’s not hard to find the motivation needed to succeed. If you are involved in an industry that bores you it will be hard to dig down and find that motivation when you need it because you aren’t truly passionate about what you are doing. I started my  marketing  agency after several failed businesses, because the marketing aspect of each business was the only thing I really enjoyed doing. I wake up every morning motivated simply because I love what I do. But, passions can change and it’s important that you pivot with them. For example, after five years of providing marketing services, I’m currently pivoting into more of an  online marketing consulting agency . Over the years I’ve grown fonder of consulting with in-house teams and helping them build and scale, rather than just providing various services. Follow your passion and you will never experience a lack of motivation. 2. Always have long-term
